THE HOURGLASS
by Aria Veil The sands of time trickle down the hourglass There, each grain contains a memory or a dream And today I watch my memories sink like quicksand The vast desert trying to escape in the wind Time wants me to forget And I keep throwing sand toward the sky, Hoping it flies to where you are Would it be torture to have you remember me? Will you remember my kiss and the touch of my hand? The beautiful oasis is but a desert filled with tears I will stay right here, awaiting your return Until this little oasis emerges into a rainforest Then one day, you stumble to where I am And you will remember how sweet it all was You try to regain my affection and make me fall yet again But I look at you with empty eyes like the hourglass that you left unturned. |
DANCE
by Aria Veil Your love has me moving To that beat, that pulse, that drum-- That thumping in your chest We dance to the tempo that flows in our veins Warm and loving and familiar I let you hold me, and twirl me, and move me You are my music And there is no one in this world That could ever move me the same way |
THE WIND
by Aria Veil You are the wind that rustles my leaves To tremble and fall from my grasp An unseen touch that’s sometimes cold, Other times warm from where you’ve gone For you I am always waiting Always still. Always restless But you shake me 'til I’m leafless I watch as heaven’s tears become dew And I could no longer feel the sun You flee elsewhere To some other sea Some other land And you whisper your sweet soft whisper To the tree that knows not how to listen To the winds of your seasons—of temper and change |
