When you think about the land of Eden, do you envision a garden? Green pastures? Well, in the world of The Sky Dweller and the Search for Whiloms, Eden is a place where evolution and the forces of nature are more advanced. In Central Eden you'll find winged people living in houses found on floating parcels of land. In the east is a vast ocean where merpeople have built Atlantis. And to the south is a town called Bulbutton Square, where minotaurs, fauns, and other Land Dwellers thrive. But what of the Wanderers? Well, I think it would be best for you to find out.
Our hero, Elle, has lived all her life in the desserts of Eastern Sierra and for the longest time, she's been investigating the missing fruit in their family tree. It was peculiar how her parents would often act as if her grandmother had never existed and it made her all the more determined to dig around. Are you ready for this epic adventure? The ending might lead you to wonder... is the story a tragedy or a victory? I will leave that up to you. The griffins, mermaids, centaurs, and gorgons await your arrival! Why I wrote the book
Sometimes it takes a good fantasy fiction to make us realize the flaws in our reality. By writing this book, I challenge the readers to defy the odds and rise up to seek and fulfill their calling.
I’ve noticed that most of the time, the young are taught “What” to think, instead of “How” which is a huge risk for them to lose their own voice. In this modern era, it’s hard to get noticed because everyone seems to be drowning in worldly noise and there’s also so much pressure that children may feel lost or consumed by anxiety without us knowing it. I want this book to be their companion. A story that will live on and linger inside of them. I believe this adventure-filled world could be a place where the young could dive into and find clarity. |

About the Author
Aria Veil is the pen name of Kamla Villanueva, a Filipina writer and artist. She has a lot of pent-up creativity which fuels her desire to write and paint. Aria hopes that through her talents, she would be able to reach out and help others. On days when she isn't writing, Aria spends her time either thinking up new adventures or going on adventures of her own. She loves climbing mountains, riding her bike and having long walks on the beaches of her homeland, the Philippines.

SYNOPSIS:
PART I: THINGS TO COME The story begins with a foreshadowing as ELLE battles with her monster-induced nightmares. Upon waking up, Elle investigates the mystery surrounding her grandmother. She thought her grandma had always been the missing fruit in their family tree. No one talked about her nor was there a single photo of her in the family album. Elle would often confide in PAIGE, her best friend, who is the complete opposite of her--an angsty girl who always went for mismatched attire. Nevertheless, their tandem is one that is unique and quirky. After Elle's grandfather had a heart attack, she would visit him in the hospital where we'll get to see how deeply attached she was with him. Elle often felt like she always needed to prepare for the worst. Well, she had every reason to be, because on the day of their school camp, Elle was attacked by a Wanderer who called himself the Grandmaster. PART II: REVELATIONS Elle wakes up in Eden. She had been saved by the Sky Dwellers MIKE, AMOS, and ERIN. Upon travelling Eden, she meets the Tree of Life who informs her that she is in fact a Sky Dweller as well. Upon revealing the true identity of her grandparents, Elle was given the task to find Eve’s four Whiloms (items that hold great power) and to accomplish the duties that her forefathers have failed to do. PART III: THE UNTOLD STORY While Elle discovers more about the land of Eden, Mike finds himself back on earth where he defeats the Dragon and frees Eve from the Wanderer’s bonds. PART IV: ADVENTURE AWAITS Elle meets LUNA, a deer-lady who is said to have the wisdom of the moon. Being a friend of her grandfather, she offers to lead Elle's training. After some time, Elle is able to retrieve all three Whiloms as she ventures further into Eden. She experiences living on top of floating lands and diving deep into Atlantis. It is here that readers encounter Elle's failures and find moments where she proves her worth. PART V: RAPTURE Elle is back on earth and finds the last Whilom but a great battle between Sky Dwellers and Wanderers transpire. Elle is taken by the Grandmaster who reveals himself as a man named EDEN, the serpent who had urged Eve to take the forbidden fruit. Elle sacrifices herself to save Eden by making him see the folly of his ways. Before Elle dies, Mike tries to save her and takes her to the Tree of Life. He reaches out to take the forbidden fruit so Elle would survive, but he stops upon realizing that Elle was a phoenix like him. In the end, Mike gives Elle a fighting chance by sacrificing himself—because there can only be one phoenix in one lifetime.
